I am not to write anything remarkable, because that is what I told myself at the start of this. But it is interesting how some moons can be as big as suns and some suns as small as pebbles. It asks the question: how would other intelligences classify the universe? Are things with brains always to work in discrete ways, with categories and names, and places for shirts and shoes but not place between for the things that would be half shirt half shoe? What if you put on a shirt, but one that is not full shirt – and don’t mention half shirts or cuts of cloth – a shirt that, maybe around the edges, can’t be distinguished from the background. I’m not sure what that means.
I have heard that certain drugs can make a smoothie out of your mind. They will blend boxes, a chair, and the dirty carpet all into something as inseparable as gum on the sidewalk. It is also very difficult for anyone with a smoothie for a brain to do anything useful. But is that because reasoning is the process of cutting and grouping into chunks and the drug has made us unreasonable?
“My what a chunker!” a teacher might say in the classroom of the future when a bright student solves a tricky problem in front of the class. I wonder how chunky Einstein’s brain was.
